Independently i have spent a lot of time practising my breathing technique`s and attempting to train my vocal chords to help aid my voice when singing, so far I am pretty impressed with my progress i can now hold a note a lot longer than when I first began, I am going to continue with this until I reach my own limit in singing.

Musicianship week 6
Today's lesson we learned and mastered an Acapella vocal and an arrangement of song, I have a Tenor voice which is lower than a Alto but higher than a Base , I found it fairly easy to hold a low note for a decent length of time,however with practice I feel I could improve in this area and hold a note a lot longer.

Musicianship week 5
What is melody?
Melody is a musically satisfying tune,a sequence of single notes,vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form,harmony and expression of emotion: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/music, it can come with or without words, it can be a signifier of a person`s mood the way they are feeling, it can distinguish a person`s character or mental frame of mind.
Our brains can automatically decode a melody,`semiotics` a musician can perform music without understanding the meaning or structure as its enriched with sub-text, even without realizing we can work out what`s going to happen next for example: on a TV drama or in a film by the melody the tempo, rhythm, tone and beat of the music changes prior to a dramatic event.

Musician Week 3
Today we played the tracks we had recorded on Audacity to our peers, although i felt embarrassed at at the sound of my own voice, i am happy with the idea i have recorded a track, by listening back i identified that singing is a area that id like to work on.The feedback received from my peers was positive with comments "Good change of dynamics through voices"as well as "Meaningful lyrics".
We discussed amongst the group; what makes music good ?
A good strong singing voice.
A dynamic tune.
Catchy lyrics and chorus.
Technique.
Instruments.
Beat.
Rhythm.
Confidence.
Good observation of the audience.
Volume of the music to compliment the size of the venue.
Concept.
Structure.
We watched the Harvest Dance video and discussed the performance, defining that it was performed at happy events by members of the community, dancing and creating music connected well in harmony and rhythm.

Musicianship week 2
During this lesson i was shown how to record,edit and cut songs using Audacity. We looked at song writing skills,theory building chords and technology and recording techniques.
This lesson was brilliant i recorded myself singing on Audacity,although i don't like the sound of my own voice it did sound pretty good listening back.
In pairs we were given our second task a envelope containing words and sentences to use to write a song and upload it onto Audacity for homework, i have never wrote a song before the thought actually worries me.

My First Musicianship lesson
The very first Musicianship lesson,sitting amongst a lovely group of people ,what do i know about music? Nothing! all i know about music is that it makes me smile.
Firstly we sat and introduced ourselves, as a class we talked about how music was present in our everyday life's.The class was divided into groups to create our own piece of work using the instruments of our choice,our group chose Jack and Jill,we created a background beat and performed it to the rest of the class with a brief explanation of the meaning of the rhyme,
After this very first lesson i thought wow i enjoyed it so much.

To me music is something that inspires me emotionally and physically,whether its to do housework,cry,party or simply just relax,a song or tune can awaken my memories enabling me to reminisce different periods throughout my life, from childhood memories to recent memories both happy and sad.Music is always present in everyone's life and can define a persons character and mood individually through their taste in music.
